ABOUT
Light Horse Harry has been serving Texas its genre-blending Americana sound since 2011. With a range of influences from Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys to The Grateful Dead, the four piece band blends country, rock, and pop into a raw take on American roots music. Their home-recorded debut album dropped in summer of 2012 while three of the current members (Zach Youpa, Drew Scherger, Gus Miller) were attending high school in Dallas. In 2013, they moved to Austin where they met drummer Shane (Flash) Gordon while attending the University of Texas.
During the summer of 2014, the group released another self produced, four-song EP titled "Busted In Brownsville." In the following months they secured their first residency at BD Riley's Irish Pub in downtown Austin and began performing up to four nights a week at bars, clubs, and parties around Austin, helping to solidify their live sound.
Nearing graduation from UT the band released their first studio album, "San Pedro" in December of 2016. The release of San Pedro was received well, and Light Horse Harry was named Artist of the Month by Austin Music Foundation, featured on Balcony TV and KUTX 98.9 Song of the Day, and performed at Kerrville Folk Festival, among other things. The band currently performs around Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, with hopeful plans of touring in Spring of 2019
